THE LUX SERIES BY JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

I’ve heard so many great things about the Lux series for quite some time now and just knew I had to pick up the series though I must admit I was worried about it being a disappointment like some of the other hyped up books I’ve read in the past. I don’t even know why I was worried!?? It was such an amazing and loveable book! I did have some difficulties in obtaining the book in the beginning considering I couldn’t just go down to the local library and borrow the book or go down to the bookstore. Instead I had to buy the book online, and luckily mum was willing to buy online just this once from Booktopia, whilst she bought me my school textbooks for 2015. I am so blissfully thankful that I got a copy, and was so worth my money. This series is by far one of the best books that I have read in my 3 years of reading. There was never a dull moment in the series right from the beginning. Once I got sucked in, there was no turning back. I couldn’t stop myself from devouring the pages one by one, as they got better and better as the story went on.  I loved how everything fit tightly together like a jigsaw puzzle. The writing style had an easy flowing pace that never dragged on and was purely an enjoyable experience.

It was a pleasant change to read a YA book about aliens rather than the usual vampire/werewolves/Nephilim/faerie, which make up most of the fantasies these days. I can’t think of many young adult books that revolve around the idea of aliens. The behind story was well thought out and original, and didn’t sound ridiculous. I loved the fact that no two Luxen had the same level of power and that they all blended into human society quite well. The chemistry in this book? On-point. There is no love at first sight.

I just absolutely fell in love with Katy’s character right from the start. She was down to earth, funny, sarcastic and full of witty remarks. She was easy to relate with her being a book blogger and all. I admired her strength and her ability to stand up for herself against someone such as Daemon Black with his infuriating, arrogant and stab-worthy personality. I didn’t know whether I should love him of hate him. He got on my nerves a few times to the point that I wanted to smack him senseless. He grew on me eventually like moss, or a skin disease. (In a nice way… if that’s possible. Reference from The Mortal Instruments) So basically watch I'm trying to say is... Watch out Jacob Black, because there's a new Black in town that's hotter than ever!

Have you read City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare? If so would you be able to write a review about what happened in the book because I read the first 5 books but I don't really want to read the last book anymore and Im sure they are other websistes that tell you what happened in the book but they only tell me the main character deaths and what not. I just wanted a bit more information.

Thanks Adi

Yes it is! As for the book suggestions it really depends on what style of writing you enjoy and the subject. You can check out my goodreads account to see past books I've read and books I wish to read. There's a link on my home page Abooktopia where you can find a little blue button labelled as "goodreads profile" in the Welcome section which will take you straight to my account and you can look onward from there.

Here are some suggestions of book series off the top of my head though I haven't read all of these yet:
Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Dark Elements by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Grisha by Leigh Bardugo
Sinners by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki
Alienated by Melissa Landers
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Graceling by Kristin Cashore

or if you prefer classics:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

(I'm to stop there otherwise I might overload you with too many books)

I adore Jennifer L. Armentout's books! She is a fantastic writer and is such a lovely and kind person to meet. You should definitely read her other books such as the Covenant series and The Dark Elements. They are just as good and brilliantly written with a gripping plot just as well!
